Majerus’ impact goes beyond the walls of MUHS. A collegiate and professional coach for 34 years, he won 517 games and led the Runnin’ Utes of Utah to the 1998 National Championship game. He coached basketball at several universities, including his Alma Mater, Marquette University as well as Ball State University and St. Louis University. Rick took great pride in his student athletes with over 89% of those young men getting a college degree. His college teams also made it to the NCAA tournament 12 times (1 Runner Up, 2 Elite Eight and 2 Sweet Sixteen finishes), the NIT 4 times and 1 CBI Finals. He also took pride in teaching the game to other coaches at all levels of the game. While a student at MUHS, he participated in football all four years and was an M-H Club member. He was also the freshman basketball coach at MUHS under Paul Noack. Rick was known as the father of playground basketball in Milwaukee and he will be remembered by all of the young men he impacted through his coaching.
